Bay Cruising Club
Two houses have been booked at Rocky Bay on
Waiheke. They are quite close together (walking distance) and
are of the self-catering style. They have been booked complete with
linen, so only beach towels will be required. Look at the website for

houses are #1314
Arthur and Warren will bring cars to the island (seating
12 between them). If that is not enough we will hire another local
vehicle for transport around the island. Murray and Jim
will bring their yachts, Arthur
will bring his runabout, for planned boating to one of the
Both houses are large enough to cater for joint meals & social
gatherings. Klaus and Kirsten plan to be on Waiheke at
the same time with 14 guests of their own, and hope to link up on one of
the evenings (possibly Tuesday).
Grand Finale Thursday:
We've been invited back to the old Chemicals and Materials Department
that spawned us on Thursday: for afternoon tea and a
tour between 3 and 5pm. Shopping in Auckland is available
for the wives/girlfriends/partners while this is happening. This will be
followed by a social drinks gathering, followed by a dinner together at
a handy restaurant.
Accommodation in Auckland:
Jim & Jennifer and Murray & Vicki have kindly offered a
bed before and after the reunion. Please contact them directly to
arrange. Beds will obviously be required in Auckland on the Thursday
There will be some people travelling
to Waiheke on Sunday. Definitely Arthur and Sandy, Jim and Jennifer, and
probably Warren & Jill.
Travel to Waiheke.
Ferries available from town (use
Fullers), or from Half Moon Bay (Sealink).
We have transport arranged to collect any of you coming on the Fullers
ferry which goes into
Matiatia, or the Sealink which goes into Ostend. Naturally both
Jim and Murray will offer an “assisted passage scheme” if you would like
to sail over to Waiheke Island. Individual engagement contracts with
conditions must be sought directly from the skippers. Will advise of
cellphone numbers nearer the time to allow collection arrangements.
Afternoon kept free for casual reunion.
Walks, kayaks available.
BBQ dinner hosted by the “Thomas House”
The outings are planned on the yachts
provided by Jim and Murray and Arhtur’s run-about. Both of the below can
be accessed from the water.
Sculpture Trail at
Connells Bay. 2-hour guided tour of a fabulous sculpture park.
Bay Winery with
Tasting & shared platters for sustenance.
Return to Rocky Bay by sailing, motoring or
Dinner at local
Winery & Restaurant with drinks first.
Loose proposal to split up into a range of
activities as follows.
Options for the morning are:
Golf. Can hire VIP Clubs, Duffer
Clubs, Trundlers, Electric Carts. Nice 9 hole course.
Tennis. Four nice astro-turf courts
available. Arthur has offered to organize fun tournament if enough

Garden Tours. Jill has offered to
organize some visits for those interested
Stoney Batter Tunnels Tour. Self-guided tour of WW2 gun
emplacements. Only torches required.
All of the above require a booking. We need some indication of
preferences to make the arrangements.
